Sound Meditation of Swadhisthana Chakra

Meditation with Beeja sound of Vang (sound icon for Beeja mantra Vang)

How to chant?

The seed sound or bija mantra is VANG. To produce this sound lips are shaped like a circle and the air is pushed through the lips with the sound resonating as if it is coming from a tube. The concentration should be on the image of second chakra not genitals when the seed sound VANG is repeated. If pronounced properly this sound will influence the flow of prana in swadhishtana chakra. When this sound is produced in the presence of water element it enhances the production and circulation of fluids in the body.

Swadhisthana Chakra Yantra Form Description

Awaken your prana shakti with Swadhisthana Chakra associated in psychological terms with subconscious mind and it is associated with Pranamaya Kosh and corresponds to the reproductive and urinary system in the gross body.

Swadhisthana Chakra Lotus Chakra of vermilion color with a touch of carmine has six petals with seed sound of the petals or letters (Ba, Bha, Ma, Ya, Ra, La) of the color of lightning placed on the petals.

In the pericarp of the Main Lotus there is a white region with second 8-petalled Lotus with half-moon in its center. Inside this region is the Varuna-Bija, VAM seated on Makara with a noose on hand. In the hollow of Bindu is Vishnu sitting on Garuda holding in His four hands the Conch, the Discus, the Mace, and the Lotus. Vishnu, of youth and pride, wears yellow raiment, a garland of forest flowers, the mark of Srivatsa on His chest and a gem Kaustubha on His breast. Fierce looking Sakti Rakini with three eyes, projecting fangs, and bleeding nostrils, sits in the pericarp of the red lotus, is of syAma varna, holds in her four hands SUla, Abja, Damaru, and Tanaka (a spear, a lotus, a drum, and a battleaxe) and is fond of white rice.

The Swadhisthana Chakra yantra form is a circle with crescent. It establishes relationship between water and the moon. The menstrual cycle of woman mirrors the monthly cycle of moon. This chakra is associated with genitals and procreation. The circle with six petals represent 6 mental modifications.

  1. Affection (Indulgence)
  2. Suspicion
  3. Disdain
  4. Delusion
  5. Destructiveness
  6. Pitilessness

The element of Swadhisthana Chakra is water connected to moon as shown by effect of lunar cycle on ocean tides. The waxing and waning of moon effects our body chemistry and emotions. The water element is connected to our left nostril breath which activates the right side of the brain, which is related to emotions. The water element evolves from rasa tanamatra (taste principle) that is why the tongue is its sense organ.

The carrier of this sound is Crocodile as it represents sexual vigour. The crocodile is the vehicle of Varuna, the lord of water in Ocean, rivers, lakes and ponds. Varuna is related to Indra the lord of rains and clouds and so the sexual energy of second chakra is related to the energy of the first chakra - the desire for food for body, min and heart. The air for both the chakras is Apana. Therefore a strong first chakra enhances sexual play in the second chakra.

Swadhisthana Chakra Art of Deity & Ruler (requisite to Meditation) [only at studio Gems Of Yoga]

The deity of this chakra is Vishnu, the lord of preservation. He is shown wearing dark blue riding his Vayu (wind) power in the form of eagle. Whenever the balance is disturbed between the forces of creation and destruction, Vishnu has to incarnate to create a balance again. He is the eternal benefeactor of Swadhisthana Chakra. His carrier is Garuda or eagle, the king of birds.

In satvik form Vishnu is white called called Satya-Narayan. He wears a wild flower garland Vanmala representing Maya or Illusion. The apana vayu which is Rajasic iis also present. Hence the dark blue color of Vishnu influenced by yellow color of Rajas appears sea green or turquoise in color.

In his four arms Vishnu holds 4 implements that are essential for the full enjoyment of the life through four objects of achievement which are :.

  1. Wealth (Artha)
  2. Code Of conduct or law (dharma)
  3. Enjoyment Of Beauty (Kama)
  4. Liberation (Moksha)

Vishnu holds in his:

  • Lower right hand a Gada, the mace which means that Vishnu has the power of maintaining the world . It signifies earthly security in the form of monetary wealth ( artha ) as the first requirement before sexual desires (Kama) can be fulfilled.
  • In his upper Right hand he holds, Chakra the golden ring of light (consciousness) spinning on his index finger. In continuous movement around its axis ,staying firm and true to its revolution, it symbolises Dharma (natural Law). Its steady revolution creates the cycle of time, the cosmic rhythm, the dance of preservation ( rasa lila ). Whatever is not in conformity with this rhythm must come to an end. The chakra cuts through obstacles like the ignorance and irreverence and destroys disharmony and imbalance.
  • In his lower left hand he holds Padma, the lotus of pale pink color is a symbol of purity. The lotus grows in the mud yet remains luminous, radiant and graceful. It is a symbol of beauty and enjoyment of beauty.
  • In his upper left hand Shankh, the conch signifies the sound of ocean waves and represents the pure sound ( mantras ) to bring liberation to human beings. The conch is the principle of void (akasha). Its color is white.

All this should be kept in mind while meditating on Vishnu.

His shakti is Rakini who is the doorkeeper of Swadhisthana Chakra. The first inspiration of art and music comes from her. Rakini is a form of Kundalini shakti. In her four arms she holds the following implements.

  • An arrow shot from the bow of Kama which is the arrow of feelings and desires and emotions that bring both pleasure and pain as duality arises.
  • A Skull symbolise the nature of Romantic who bear his head on his hand with emotions ruling the behavior.
  • A drum means sound (mantra) and rhythm. At time of creation, Shiva in a joyful mood played his drum from where came the 16 vowels and 34 consonants called Matrikas (mother energy expressed as sound). The sound of Damru signifies Nada or mantra. The beating of drum marks time and the rhythm cycle. Rhytm makes the body move in dance form and dance is a powerful tool of expression for second chakra person.
  • An Ax (Parashu) means removal of deep seated unspiritual qualities. She cuts the blocks that impede further growth.

The effects of Meditation on this chakra strengthen our connection to our etheric body and help us to transform from the fear, hate, anger and violence to love, compassion, friendliness and fearlessness. Both are different side of the same coin and both are required.Fear protects a person, anger involves him in struggle against others and violence helps him to save himself from the violence of others. Acceptance and not suppression is required.

There are times when you read and felt you were a mixed bag or more dominant. This construction of yantra yourself will allow you a self evaluation tool to understand and work on yourself to move from your raw potentiality to your polished potentiality in this lifetime.
