YOGA FOR BALANCE INSPIRED BY By B.K.S. IYENGER

To know more check our events Page.
Balance: A biological system that enables us to know where our bodies are in the environment and to maintain a desired position. Normal balance depends on information from the inner ear, other senses (such as sight and touch) and muscle movement.
Our sense of balance is specifically regulated by a complex interaction between the following parts of the nervous system:
1. The inner ears (also called the labyrinth) monitor the directions of motion, such as turning or forward-backward, side-to-side, and up-and-down motions.
2. The eyes observe where the body is in space (i.e., upside down, right side up, etc.) and also the directions of motion.
3. Skin pressure receptors such as those located in the feet and seat sense what part of the body is down and touching the ground.
4. Muscle and joint sensory receptors report what parts of the body are moving.
5. The central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) processes all the bits of information from the four other systems to make some coordinated sense out of it all.

Classes Overview

This is a 20 week course that is designed for you to become a guide to your yoga practice. We introduce classic asanas. We guide you into pranayamas. We also take you into yoga for therapy if we feel that you have some chronic pains about which you were unaware in the beginning.

Classes Lesson

Yoga is for everyone. You need not be at the peak of health or an expert in physical practice to take a beginner’s class. Modern life creates job pressure and financial blockages leading to mental suffering, feelings of inadequacy and isolation or powerlessness. Yoga helps to integrate the mental and physical plane bringing a sense of inner and outer balance. We have to be like a flowing river where we give attention to mental and spiritual side creating fertility around the area where the river of our life flows. Mostly student tend to practice for the physical aspect of yoga which is compared to the fast flowing stream which is tumbling and falling and has no depth and direction.

  • BEGINNER (ARAMBHAVASTHA)

FROM 1ST-10TH OF THE MONTH
We touch upon the classic 23 Yoga Asanas. It includes 8 standing asanas, 3 sitting asanas, 3 forward bends, 2 twisting asanas, 3 inversions, 2 back bends and 2 reclining asanas. We get into the anatomical precision and detailing of the asana rather than rushing through the asanas.

  • REGULAR YOGI (GHATAVASTHA)

FROM 11th to 20th OF THE MONTH
We introduce 38 Asanas for Stress and guide you into pranayama with props.

  • COMMITTED (PARICHYAVASTHA)

FROM 21st TO 30th OF THE MONTH
The 4 pillars of yoga therapy are the physician, the medication, the attendant and the patient. In the yogic world, the sage Patanjali is the physician, asanas are the medications, the yoga instructor is the attendant and the student is the patient. The asanas have to be recommended according to the ailment and the physical and the emotional condition of the student. These sessions should be taken as private sessions. The aim here is to target the cause.
The Yoga therapy asanas includes the asanas for Heart and circulation, Respiratory System, Digestive System, Urinary System, Hormonal System, Immune System, Muscles, bones and joints, skin, Brain and Nervous system, Mind and Emotions, Women’s health and men’s health.

What You Get From This Classes

Once both the sides of the body become symmetrical, YOU CREATE BALANCE and undue stress is removed from the circulatory system, respiratory, digestive, reproductive and excretory systems. In each asana different organs are placed in different anatomical positions, and are squeezed and spread, dampened and dried, heated and cooled. The organs are supplied with fresh blood and are gently massaged, relaxed and toned into a state of optimum health.

In Pranayama:
Ujjai relieves depression and boosts confidence. It alleviates cardiac disorders. It normalizes blood pressure. It relieves Asthma.
Viloma Pranayama brings lightness to body and serenity of the mind. It reduces eye strain and headaches, It relieves symptoms of colds, coughs and tonsillitis. It helps to treat menorrhagia and metrorrhagia. It reduces mood swings and PMS related headaches. It helps to treat the symptoms of Menopause.

The therapy workshops are conducted on weekends and as private classes. Please check our event calendar for details.
